Masturbation is Harmful? 6 research based theories.

Masturbation is sexually self-stimulating your genitals to the point of reaching an orgasm.

It is a very common nature among men and women and is a very normal part of growing up for youngsters of both sexes.

Masturbation is harmful? This is the question which arises in our mind frequently. And being a private question we can not discuss it in public. So it’s, not something we feel ashamed of. But depending on which society we live in, we need to solve it.

From a health science perspective, masturbation is not harmful at all to you. Some people think masturbation is harmful for moral reasons, however, that is a personal choice. Masterbation is our need and it is not something we feel ashamed of in performing.

Masturbation is not harmful but depending on the individuals how they masturbate and how many times they masturbate daily or weekly. Not every time masturbation is harmful. Till it has not affected your daily routine masturbation is not harmful. For some masturbation is a pressure releaser. They masturbate before going to bed and work. It helps them decrease their depression and feel relaxed.

Masterbation and sex:

It appears that not all orgasms are created equally,” says Tobias S. Köhler, MD, MPH, an associate professor at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine in Springfield.

Studies and research show that intercourse has all sorts of benefits for men example, for your blood pressure, heart and prostate health, pain, and more. But in the case of musterbation, it’s different.

Why would it make a difference whether you ejaculate during sex or on your blog own or during masturbation? No one’s sure. But your body seems to respond differently. Even the makeup of semen is different if you masturbate instead of having sex.

Still, does it matter? Have you honestly been masturbating all those years only because you wanted to improve your prostate health? I don’t think so. But one study, Harvard’s Health Professional Followup, showed that Masturbation may help lower the risk of prostate cancer and it proves that masturbation is not harmful.

Daily Masturbation is harmful ?

Here is no right explanation for this question. Masturbating daily can be natural for some men, whereas for others it can be excessive. As long as masturbating does not affect your overall energy levels, and does not offend your daily life and activities, you should be fine and don’t consider that masturbation is harmful.

Yet, few sex professionals consider masturbating daily to be excessive and daily masturbation is harmful. Masturbating daily can lead to weakness, tiredness, early ejaculation and may inhibit sexual activities with your partner.

On the other hand, missing out on normal orgasms increases anxiety levels and can add to mental health issues, frustration, and sadness in general. Masturbating aids stress release and helps to stabilize your mood, making you pleased and healthier.

How many times we shall masturbate?

People think about is it safe to masturbate too much? But it’s not how many times you masturbate in a week (or day) that matters, says Logan Levkoff, Ph.D., a sexologist and sex educator. It’s how it fits into your life.

If you masturbate many times a day and have a healthy and satisfying life it’s good for you. But if you masturbate many times a day and you’re missing work or giving up on sex with your partner because of it and mentally you are not relaxed consider seeing a sex therapist.

Even then, there’s nothing specific about masturbation that’s the problem. Compulsive masturbation is like any behavior that disrupts your life whether it’s compulsively playing poker or checking your social media every other second.

When is masturbation harmful?

Masturbation is safe generally. And masturbation is harmful However, if it is done extremely and aggressively then it can be dangerous.

  • When you touch the genitals of an infected person and then touch yours you may suffer from sexually transmitted infections (STIs). STIs can also occur if you share your sex toys with an infected person.
  • If you masturbate in a face-down position you tend to put out more pressure on the penis, and you may harm it. To avoid this you can masturbate while standing, sitting, or lying on the back.
  • You should avoid squeezing the penis while ejaculating, to prevent the flow of semen. Else, this can damage the nerves and blood vessels in the penis, and will also force the semen into the urinary bladder.

Masturbation is good for your sex life:

Masturbation can help your sex life since it’s how guys learn what they like during sex. “I think women would be more satisfied sexually in their relationship if they masturbated as much as men do,” Levkoff says.

“Some guys do get so hooked on a certain amount of pressure during masturbation or the stimulation of porn that they can’t perform with a partner,” says Ian Kerner, Ph.D., a sex therapist and author of She Comes First. People who masturbate usually, get used to it, and ejaculate very rapidly, and can not satisfy their sex partner.

Still, Kerner says those guys are the exception. “For the vast majority of men, masturbation is a healthy thing,” he says. “I’m usually more concerned about a guy who’s stopped masturbating which can be a sign of anxiety or health problems than a guy who’s doing it regularly.”

Masturbating doesn’t reflect on your relationship

Levkoff says, “the most damaging myth about male masturbation is that it’s a sign something is wrong in your relationship.

The fact is that most guys masturbate. They masturbate if they’re single, in a bad relationship, or a great relationship. It’s just something they do that has nothing to do with their partners.

Masturbation isn’t only about sex, Levkoff says. For many, it’s a routine way of relieving stress, clearing your head before work, or going to sleep.

Can musterbation make you thin?

Masturbation does not make you thin but a lot of it can cause you to lose some weight. It’s like exercise you perform for decreasing weight.

Masturbation is a part of healthy sex life and research indicates a lot of health benefits for men after masturbation, it is useful in the following ways:

  • For men, masturbation may help prevent prostate cancer. Toxins build up naturally in the urogenital tract.  Men who ejaculate over five times per week decrease these toxin levels. This significantly lowers their risk of prostate cancer.
  • When men ejaculate, a little cortisol gets ejected, which is the stress hormone. This boosts their immune system.
  • Masturbation can release stress and tension from the body by flooding the system with endorphins. Endorphins trigger a positive feeling in the body and can lead to sound sleep.
  • With age men naturally lose muscle tone even in the penis.  Masturbation or regular sex in a way exercises the pelvic floor muscles and prevent erectile dysfunction and incontinence.
  • Masturbating releases feel-good neurochemicals like dopamine and oxytocin that lift your spirits, boost your satisfaction, and activates the reward circuits in your brain.
  • It can enhance your relationship with your partner since you know yourself physically.

Side effects of masternation:

Excess of anything can be harmful. Excessive masturbation is harmful and can cause:

  • fatigue
  • weakness
  • early ejaculation
  • may also inhibit sexual activities with your partner
  • injury to the penis
  • vision changes
  • lower back pain
  • testicular pain
  • hair loss

If you find yourself excessively masturbating, you may want to divert the excessive energy in a more healthy way, such as :

  • yoga
  • meditation
  • listening to music
  • joining dance classes
  • following an exercise routine such as aerobics, running, cycling, swimming, etc

If the tendency continues, you may want to consult a psychiatrist or an adviser as it can also be related to mental stress.
